Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 28th November, 2012

Today's weather;

It's still raining around Samui but not as much as yesterday, although all night it was wet. Current temp at 7am is 24.7C, cold if you live as long as I do on the island!
Today is Loy Kratong so time to get your Kratongs a float.

On Malapascua it's beautiful again, blue skies and sunshine a plenty! Current temp at 8am local time is 27C
Today I'm out on the boats and will go for a couple of dives around the island.

Downtown Malapascua the roosters are kept in the open

Yesterday about half the rain come down compared to the previous day, 'only' 57mm came down. Max temp reached 28C and overall the roads dealt well with the water abundance. Most major roads had just larger puddles than usual and flash floods were rather marginal or not around at all.

The forecast shows easing up of the rain and over the weekend the wind calms down as well, just to pick up again come Monday. The expected rain is a lot less though than the last couple of days.

Don't forget to use my Camille's Samui hotel recommendation blog and my Camille's Thailand hotel recommendation blog for all your hotel bookings on Koh Samui and around Thailand. By doing so, you will support my blog. Thanks folks!

Hi Camille, Great blog!

Now that the monsoon/rainy season is underway in your experience how long will the severe weather last for?

My wife and I are visiting Samui for the first time in January and are hoping to see some sun! (I appreciate its a tropical island and the weather is very unpredictable!)

Many Thanks
Adam

Hi,
I plan to visit Samui from 9 Dec. onwards for one week. Is there a chance that the heaviest rainy period will be over by then, or do we have to expect still much rain?
Many thanka for your advise/estimate!
Didi, Vienna

Hi Adam,

January is usually fairly good, a lot better than November and the first half of December.

Please have a look at my archives, half way down the page on my Samui info and weather blog, right hand side, they go back a few years. Open a month that you’re interested in and check one of the last posts of each month, starting with ‘Goodbye to…………’ this post will tell you the weather conditions for that month.
You can also check each individual post for that month if you wish to.

Hi Didi,

Hard to predict, in general we had a very nice monsoon season so far and after the weekend it seems to clear up again. Usually around mid December, the weather tends to improve however, it's a bit early now to make any predictions I'm afraid.

My advice right now is to keep a close eye on the developments and usually a week in advance a slightly clearer picture starts to emerge.

Thank you Camille.

Can't wait to get out there! Very excited!

If you could recommend one must thing to do and one dining experience what would it be?

Thanks again

Adam

Hi Adam,

You're welcome. One 'must' thing to do, a trip around the island, just search my site for this and a report will show up.
For food, Orgasmic for Western food (between Plai Laem and Bophud) and for Thai Sabeinglae near Lamai.

Briliant will be sure to look that up and try your suggestions.

Once again thank you.
