Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 26th November, 2011

Today's weather;

Koh Samui weather is a bit of a mixed bag, some rain looks possible but sunshine is not ruled out either. Current temp at 7am is 28.2C

Yesterday saw a mixed bag around Koh Samui with rain and sunshine changing the scenery a few times. Max temp reached 30.2C

The forecast is looking really good, this coming night should see some heavy rain but after that it's sunshine only, this all despite the heavy rain and floods hitting Southern Thailand right now!

Gili Air continues to have excellent weather conditions. It's very sunny this morning once more and yesterday saw a warm and sunny day! The turtle conservation program at Oceans 5 is going strong and the IDC will be finished tomorrow and afterwards more dives are looming at the horizon!

Th situation in Thailand with the floods is lingering on, there's an activist group named the 'Green Group' that wants to sue to the Prime Minister for criminally mishandling the flood crisis.

On a different note, the police are keeping a close watch on 10 sensitive areas in Greater Bangkok, concerned that prolonged flooding there might prompt stressedout locals to take to the streets. Not to mention a possible surge of petty crime like theft and break ins by potentially many desperate people who lost everything.

The Thai economy faces a flood hit; The devastating floods have caused 1.4 trillion baht in estimated damage and are likely to slash Thailand's economic growth to 2.4% this year, the World Bank says.

Last but not least, the longest operating airport airport in Asia, Don Muang, now only used for domestic travel, may potentially face a shut down. A full-scale rehabilitation of inundated Don Mueang airport, which could run into billions of baht, hinges on state policy and assurances that it will never again experience a similar deluge to what it has faced for more than a month now.
