Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 26th October, 2010

Today's weather;

After having arrived safe and well on Koh Lanta yesterday, here's my first update. I woke up a few times last night from the heavy rainfall sweeping over Koh Lanta. This morning sees overcast and I'm not sure if the sun will be able to lift that. Current temp at 7am is 26.3C
Today I'm starting an IDCS course to be followed by the IDC tomorrow.

The beach I'm staying at, Klong Nin, this morning at 7am

Samui is nice and the sun is looking to burn the thin cloud layer away quickly. Current temp at 7am is 27.2C

Yesterday had a nice and sunny day during all day, in the morning on Samui, the whole trip down to Lanta and the remainder of the day on Koh Lanta. Max temp reached 33C

Thinking of visiting Samui in the first week of November, is it advisable.
In which parts of Thailand will the weather be ok for a short 5 day trip.
Thank you.

Hi,

The first week of November can be tricky on Samui, somewhere during November Samui should have a monsoon period but it's never clear when that exactly will be. Last year Samui had no rain at all but I wouldn't count on that this year.
In general the West coast should have better weather conditions in November, Phuket, Koh Lanta, Kao Lak and other locations should have more sunshine and most likely less rain than Samui during early November.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
Thanks for your prompt reply. Thai weather patterns can really be confusing.
Probably Krabi would be a better bet than Koh Samui. Do you think Bangkok and areas like Kanchanaburi would be okay to visit? All we see on the telly is floods everywhere.
Thanks again,
Regards,
Jay

Hi Jaymala,

Krabi would be most likely a better option. Right now I’m on Koh Lanta, which is near Krabi and that should have good weather for the next couple of months, starting any day now.

The floods are only happening in the North and North Eastern parts of Thailand, not anywhere near the South of Thailand at all!

Bangkok may be tricky, since they expect some flooding as well, Kanchanaburi I’m not sure to be honest.

Hope this helps.

Hi Talen,

Especially on the big empty beaches on Koh Lanta!
