Mitra Restaurant in Chaweng

Mitra Restaurant in Chaweng

A couple of weeks when my sister was visiting, we visited the Mitra Restaurant in Chaweng, which is more or less at the same location as Pee Soon's place, which used to be an absolute favourite for a few years.

The night we went had dinner here, I didn't take any pictures of the front of the restaurant, hence why it took a while before I post this blog entry. It's located if you take a right where the one way system starts in Chaweng and after about 6 or 700 meters it at the your left hand on the corner of a small area that houses several restaurants (including Pee Soon), just before the 7-11, the one located on the road to the departure area of the airport.

The food is good and some of the dishes we had included this Hoi Lai Paht Prik Phao หอยลายผัดพริกเผา aka clams stir fried with roasted chili paste. I just love this dish!

A dish I've been introduced to just over a year ago, Khai Kem Pad Pak (Salted eggs in Thai are; ไข่เค็ม) or Salted eggs with stir fried vegetables. This became a fave very quickly, although I find it hard to get a good quality plate to my liking.

A very nice, classic Tom Kha Kai soup ต้มข่าไก่ or chicken and coconut milk soup. This was a good one!

This is one of those places where you can get good and cheap local fare, visited by both Thais and Westerners alike and it's always a good sign if the locals frequent a place. Definitely worthwhile a visit.

Hi Camille, this looks just like a place I would love. i do recall seeing it also when I was last in Samui. It is not far from Mickeys Hole in the wall. I will be sure to visit it next year, especially to try the clam dish -yummmm. I love the electricial entertainment that is provided also lol.

Hi Bronwyn,

I'm very glad I could come up with a place that you haven't visited yet and yes, it's very much near Mickey's hole in the wall!

The clams are delicious and you can get some wire spaghetti to go with it as a side dish ;-)
