17th July, 2010

Today's weather;

A clear sky with a few clouds in it is shaping up over Samui this morning. Current temp is just above the mid twenties Celsius.

Currently I'm teaching a PADI Open Water diver course to my sisters kids, today we're on the boat for the last dives of this course and above is Bang Rak bay pictured as it looked like yesterday morning, with Koh Phangan in the background.

Yesterday was a fantastic and lovely day with plenty of sunshine, up until around 4pm when it started to seriously hose down for a good hour and kept drizzling on for a while. Around 20mm of water came down in a short time span and flash flooding happened all over the place. The good news is that the flash flooding only lasts for an hour or so with the new drainage system in place instead of a couple of days before this drainage system was in place.
The picture above shows Bang Rak beach road, totally flooded during the height of the downpour..
Max temp reached reached the mid thirties Celsius.

Hallo Camille!
I am German and i read your weather blog every day. I´ve been in Samui several times (last time in May this year). Thank you for your blog.
Wolfgang
I liked your comment about the final in World Championship very much... I also think Holland played too rough!

Hi Camille,
i think, you are right. I also think we would have lost, but since i came to Thailand, i know there are more important things in life than football...:-). In fact, since then i started to live again...
