26th August, 2008

Today's weather;

It's a near perfect blue sky overland this morning but heavy clouds linger over the Gulf. The current temp at 7am is 27C.

Yesterday was fairly cloudy but with enough sunshine as well. As usual during this August, it was warm! Max temp reached 33C.

Chaweng beach early evening, around 7 pm
Yesterday we did a night dive at Chaweng beach, my dive blog will be updated soon and after the dive there was a beautiful, star littered sky!
Last night there was some heavy rain in the middle of the night though, good timing and good for the plants and other vegetation on the island!

Hi Camille!

Just wanted to say we had a blast in Koh Samui. We were there the week of the 35 degree weather.
Our 16 days in Thailand were fantastic and can't wait to get back there.
The simpler life is something we could definitely get used to and would love to live in your neck of the woods one day.
All the best.

Hello Camille - I read through your blog and websites, thank you for the fantastic information.

My partner and I are planning to visit Koh Samui and Koh Tao the latter two weeks of November. . chose it over Phuket and Phi Phi due to a recommendation from a friend's brother who lives in Thailand. He had thought November would offer nicce weather though the rain was not mentioned.

We spent our holiday last year dodging typhoons in Vietnam so we are a bit anxious about the same this year, particularly since we live in Seattle, WA in the States where we have rain nearly all year.

I would really appreciate your opinion on whether we should visit another partner of Thailand during this time period.

Thank you.

Jackie

Hi Jackie,

Thanks for your enquiry and for reading my blog.

Seattle is a great city, lucky for me, when I visited a few years ago, it stayed dry! Unfortunately that can’t be said about Samui during November. Please check my weather blog’s archive for last year, especially early November was not very good. It’s difficult to predict, but in general late November is very wet here. You’ll have more chance of sunshine if you visit the Andaman side of Thailand during this period, Phuket, Krabi, Koh Phi Phi, Kao Lak etc.

Although Samui is a great place to be and to visit, late November may not be the best time of the year to do so.

Hope this helped.
